Flying Contest

Last weekend Noah participated in his first model airplane flying contest.
Grandpa Bob has been flying model planes for years and it's a
really fun hobby for him to do with some of his grandkids.

Everyone flies in a giant field while someone records their flight times.

Then they have to retrieve their planes.

Some people use bicycles or mopeds.  Noah had to go on foot but he didn't mind.

Grandma provided sun hats for everyone.  Toby isn't quite gentle enough with the model planes yet, but we're sure he'll want in on this hobby, too.

Noah did well, beating his own practice times and he won a
new model airplane kit!

Grandma is a big supporter.  She even has cute little airplane earrings!

It's a pretty cool hobby
and Noah can graduate to bigger and more complex planes as he grows.

Geary caught this shot of one of Grandpa Bob's flights.  It was a little blurry but with some photo editing it almost looks like a painting!

The next day Noah and Toby got to visit Enchanted Forest with their cousins!

Toby loved riding the train--he rode it three times!

Noah's favorite was the bumper cars.
He liked attacking Geary and Lili.

Toby also drove the little bumper boats all by himself!

Karissa was a little boater, too.

I'm not sure where this shot was taken but I love the happy faces
on both of these guys.

Both boys said it was the most fun weekend ever
and they can't wait to do it again!

Special thanks to Grandma and Grandpa Bob
for the fun weekend and for providing some of the photos!

Name Those Earrings

Update:  I chose the name Mel suggested: Moondrops.  It is perfect for this pair of earrings!  I thought this was fun and I loved hearing everyone's suggestions.  When I get the jewelry back from my photographer I'll post another piece and hold another naming contest.  Thanks, everyone!

This poor blog has been neglected!  I have been busy, busy, busy!  But to make up for the lack of posting lately, I thought I'd offer a fun little contest.  You see very soon I'm going to be introducing several new designs to my etsy shop.  One of Geary's students is a very talented photographer and she's been taking pictures of my work being worn by her adorable friends.  I am loving how the pictures are turning out.  And I'm glad you will now have a chance to see how my jewelry looks on a real body and get an idea of the scale and how it lays.  Plus, it's just dang fun to see people wearing my stuff!

Here's one of the new earring designs that will be in my shop soon.  I need to come up with a name for these little beauties and I thought it would be fun to ask my blog readers to give suggestions.  Whoever comes up with the winning suggestion will get to choose something from my shop for free!  And if this is fun and works out, maybe I'll have this type of contest again for other new pieces. (The necklace is another new design but it already has a name...I'll post close-ups soon!)

Visions of Grandeur: Chuck Norris Style

Jeana:  Toby, bring me your shoes, we need to go to the store.

Toby:  Why?

Jeana:  Because we're leaving.

Toby: No, why I need shoes on?

Jeana:  To protect your feet so the ground doesn't hurt them.  Go get get your shoes please.  Now.

Toby:  No, I don't need shoes.  My shoes protect the ground so my feet don't hurt them!

CSA Sharing

A friend of mine purchased a share in a Community Supported Agriculture program. She gets to pick up lots of beautiful, organic produce from a local farm every week. But there have been a couple weeks when she has been away and she asked me if our family would like to have her share for those times. Of course I said yes! Look at what I picked up today. Have you ever seen purple or orange cauliflower? The colors are gorgeous! And look how huge that head of red leaf lettuce is. I'm planning to make a pie with those berries and several loaves of zucchini bread. Yum!

Growing Boys

This guy is crawling!
And he thinks pureed food is so five minutes ago.
He wants the stuff you have to bite
probably because he has two sharp teeth
and it looks like two more are on their way.
He is so fun with all his bouncing and giggling
and raspberry blowing.  He also thinks he's pretty
hot stuff for being able to pull himself up and stand.

This guy is so close to being fully potty trained.
If everything clicks for him in time
 he'll start preschool in September.
He's also dreaming of a big two wheeler bicycle
and a booster seat so he can sit in the way back with Noah.
His big chocolate drop eyes and insanely long eyelashes
still make us melt and sometimes it's nearly impossible not to
scoop him up and cover him kisses.

This guy is only a few weeks away from being a
big second grader!
We went school supply shopping and I asked him
to take all his new supplies out of the Target bag and
put them in the paper grocery bag we've been using
to corral all his other school supplies.  So he did but he also
decided it would "save time" if he opened every single package up
and dumped loose pencils, crayons, markers,
 glue sticks, and eraser caps
into the bag like a big pot of Back to School stew.
Only one colored pencil lead broke. But we had a good laugh.
And we bundled things back together with rubber bands and Ziploc baggies.

I sure do love these guys!

Sharing

While eating chips...

Toby: I want my own chips!

Geary:  No, these are family chips.  We can all share.

Toby:  I want my own!

Jeana: No, we're sharing.  Look, I can share with you...

Toby:  No, I can share.  Not you!

Three Year Old Logic

Geary and Noah left to get haircuts and I just can't see paying $15 for a three year old to get his haircut so Toby stayed home with me...

Toby:  Mom, I want a haircut!

Jeana:  They already left.  Do you want me to cut your hair?

Toby:  No!  I want haircut store!

Jeana:  Sorry, it's not gonna happen.  You can have Mommy cut your hair if you want.

Toby: No!  I'll do it myself!

Jeana:  No, that's not a good idea.

Toby:  I have a good idea.  You can make me some toast.

Jeana:  Will that stop you from wanting a haircut?

Toby:  Yes.  Toast makes me want to have long hair.
