Comments Tutorial

Wow! We got a lot of comments on that last post! Thanks for your input!

In case you didn't know, when you comment you can choose the "Other" box instead of the "anonymous" box and actually leave your name when you comment. You don't need a blogger account and you don't have to have a website. Just type your name in the box (or type Grandma, your handsome younger brother, or whatever). And this will help us know who's who.

Thanks again for all your input! Geary's resume is being printed and we'll show the winning picture really soon!

Miscommunications

In the car, on the way to a birthday party, Noah and I were taking turns counting from 1 to 10.

Noah: Your turn
Jeana: Okay. I'm going to count in Spanish this time.
Noah: Ooooh! Okay!
Jeana: Uno, dos, tres, cuatro, cinco, seis, siete, ocho, nueve, diez! Your turn!
Noah: Okay. Um. I'm going to count in Numbers.

In the car, on the way home.
Geary: Noah, I'm gonna put you in your bed when we get home.
Noah: No! Me do it myself!
Jeana (correcting): I do it...
Noah: No, mom! Not you! Me! The boy do it!

My Prayer

I keep finding myself putting this song from the Enter the Worship Circle CD on repeat whenever I'm in the car.

Whatever Thing
by Christena Graves

Whatever thing that I have carried in this place
That will keep me from you
I will lay it at your feet
Whatever burden I have carried for so long
That will keep me from seeing you
I will lay it down right now

I need to hear you speak to me
And I want to feel you in this place
You long to take me in your arms of love
So take me in your arms of love

All of the things that are cluttering my mind
I will push them far from here
And listen for your voice
All of the pain that I am carrying inside
I will hand it to you
You will take it, set me free, I will fly

I need to hear you speak to me
And I want to feel you in this place
You long to take me in your arms of love
So take me in your arms of love

(C) 1999 Blue Renaissance Music

"All of the pain that I am carrying inside I will hand it to you You will take it, set me free, I will fly" I love the imagery of this line! I can see myself laying down my broken heart and my Father lifting me up and tossing me into the air! I'm flying like Harrison Bergeron's ballerina, finally released from the sandbags that held me down, my shackles are broken and "in an explosion of joy and grace, into the air [I spring]!"

What am I? Chopped Liver?

Last night, we had our friends, Ligaya and Phil over for dinner. At first Noah was really shy around them, but by the end of the night he really warmed up. He even asked Phil to read him a story.

Noah went to bed before they left and this morning after he woke up he started shouting, "Phil! Phil! Come see my airplane!" I went into to his room and said, "Buddy, Phil went home after you went to bed." Noah looked crestfallen. "But...but...he's my rockstar!"

The "Where does meat come from?" conversation--gone badly

Noah: Mom? Why is there animal chickens and food chickens?
Jeana: Uh...well...
Noah (interupting): I like to eat food chickens, but we don't eat animal chickens-no, that's silly!
Jeana: Actually...
Noah (interupting again): Did you know Moses had a stick and it turned into a snake and he was soooo scared but then it turned into another stick!?!

(Noah runs off to play in his room)

Jeana: . . .

Oh man, if all our conversations go like this, when it's time for the "sex talk" we're doomed!

Happy Birthday, Lili!

Happy Birthday to our four year old niece, Analia! We are so proud to have such a spunky, smart, caring, and beautiful girl in our family. May this year be full of adventures, happy days, new things to learn, and the realization of the big, deep, wonderful love Jesus has for you. We love you, sweetie!

Oh No! The Lion Ate Noah!

Our family loves to play Hide and Seek. Lately, Noah's favorite place to hide is the laundry hamper. It's pretty funny when you're looking for a little boy and this lion in the corner starts shaking and giggling. :) Posted by Picasa

Marital Bliss

I just want to shout from the rooftops that I love my husband so much. Sunday night we were just talking in bed and we laughed SO hard, my sides were aching. I'm so thankful that God has blessed me with such a caring, gentle, intelligent, funny, handsome, and authentic man. I really respect Geary, and if you see him today, tell him I said so.

Irregular Plurals

Noah: Mom, I want you to use the foot cookie cutter on my sandwich.
Jeana: What? You want a foot sandwich?
Noah: No! I want two foots! Like my two foots. I have two foots!
Jeana: Feet.
Noah: Foots!
Jeana: No, it's feet.
Noah: Feet? No...I think it's foots.
Jeana: One foot is foot, two foots is feet.
Noah (lifting his right foot): This is a foot?
Jeana: Yep
Noah (lifting his left foot): and this a feet?

Long Overdue Thank Yous

Thank you to Papa for this awesome teepee! Noah loves setting it up all by himself and he usually takes in a big pile of books to read inside his "tent." Thank you so much, Papa. It was a great treat to get a big package in the mail, too. We love you!

Thank you for the Pirate Ship, Papa John and Grandma Mary! This has become one of Noah's all time favorite toys. I wish you could hear him singing his Pirate jigs and saying, "Ahoy, me hearty!" Almost every day the carpet becomes an ocean and we have to save more than one pirate from a shark or octopus attack. Thank you so much! We love you Papa John and Grandma Mary!

Jeana Medical Update

Well, most of you know that I had a kidney stone blasted to bits by electro shock last fall. We're still paying off the medical bills for that one, but it seems the shock has caused some complications. My doctor doesn't seem too worried, but last week I had some blood tests and an ultrasound because I've had the never ending period (8 weeks!). Don't worry, all the tests came back normal and my doctor has a plan that should get my cycle back on track.

It seems that the electro shock blasted more than just my kidney stone. I was warned that I was basically getting a shock to all of my "guts" but I didn't really think the "aftershocks" (haha) would last this long. Anyway, even though it's nothing MAJOR (read life threatening), please continue to keep me in your prayers. It's a big bummer to not know what's going on with your body. And knowing that even more medical bills are coming is another stressor to our already meager budget.

Thanks! We love you and are so appreciative of being wrapped in blankets of prayer by so many of you out there.
