Pocket Check

Today I was checking Noah's pockets before doing laundry and in one pair of pants I found:

3 pennies
1 toy suitcase
2 cars
1 otter pop wrapper
1 dime
1 marble
2 pieces of string
1 shoelace
1 lego
2 toy cups
1 pebble
1 stick from a lollipop

I'm am fearing the day I find something alive in his pockets. Although hopefully I'll find the frog/snail/worm/mouse before it goes through the laundry....ugh!

One week to go!!

This time next week will the be the last day of craziness. Our schedules will calm down, Geary will be home more, the weather will be nice, and we will get a summer break of sorts. March through May just flew by...I can't believe tomorrow is June!

Family Fun Day

Today we went to the Folk Life Festival at the Seattle Center for another Family Fun Day. We sat down to have lunch at the International Fountain and Noah looked up and said, "Oh! Look, Mom! It's the Space Noodle!" A guy sitting near us overheard and I heard him chuckle into his cell phone and tell whoever he was talking to about the Space Noodle Kid. Noah's cuteness is about to overtake the world...

Some highlights of the day:

  • Hearing a concert choir practice for competition in the parking garage. Great acoustics!
  • Helping Noah "make" a wooden toy boat. He got to use a manual drill and a hammer!
  • Chocolate Chip Mint hot fudge sundae.
  • Carousel
  • Noah waving to us as he "drove" a jeep around a circular track
  • The wedding party trying to take pictures in the middle of the crowed Folk Life Festival...guess somebody forget to see if any events were going on when they were wedding planning!
  • Noah telling a baby with a Thomas train on the elevator that he likes Thomas, too.

I just got a job!

You: What? I didn't know you were looking for a job!
Jeana: I know, it just sort of fell in my lap!
You: Well, what will you be doing?
Jeana: I'll be a part-time merchandiser for American Greeting Cards.
You: Cool! Uh...what does that mean?
Jeana: Basically I just go into stores that sell American Greeting Cards (like Fred Meyer or Rite Aid) and restock the cards and gift wrap and stuff. And do the ordering. And change out the holiday cards. You know, make it look nice and neat.
You: Wow! Sounds perfect for you! What will Noah do?
Jeana: Thanks. I still have some childcare details to work out, but I'm hoping that after my training, things will all fall into place. I would really appreciate your prayers that the transition is smooth. I'm really hoping to make a little extra money to pay off some debt and then bulk up our savings. And have a little fun money, too, of course.
You: Sure thing! And I promise to buy to lots of American Greeting Cards, too. Who needs Hallmark?!

Spelling

Noah: N-O-A-H! That spells ME!
Jeana: That spells Noah. M-E spells me.
Noah: Nuh-uh!. M-O-M spells you!

Updates

I can't believe it's been almost a week since I last blogged! All the end of the year stuff has kept our family pretty this week. Here are few updates:

  • Tomorrow is Geary's last track meet! Yay!
  • Geary's masters classes are going well and he's almost done with one of this biggest projects.
  • I have been working on the Share Life Campaign at our church, and I just finished up my latest printing assignment.
  • Noah is doing GREAT with potty training. Hopefully, he'll be all set by the time pre-school starts in the fall.
  • I'm in the process of filling out pre-school applications and looking for a place for Noah to take swimming lessons this summer.
  • My small group is almost over--I've enjoyed meeting with these girls for 2 years now--most of them are graduating and moving away. I'm praying about leading another college small group next year. Part of me really wants a break, but maybe I just need a summer vacation.
  • I cleaned out our car and brought in 2 stroller loads of toys, clothes, and sippy cups that I had been tossing into the trunk instead of bringing in the house. It's bad, I know...

Time to go clean up the messes we've made over the week and haven't had time to fix! Real blogging coming soon!

New Sandals

Well, I wasn't able to find any sandals that I liked on Sunday, but we did find a great pair for Noah to wear this summer. His comments on them:

"Well, I like the blue color, but these don't really work with socks."

Tooty Fruity -or- The Colorful Day

Geary was trying on a canteloupe colored dress shirt this morning.

Noah: Wow, Dad! Look at you!
Geary: Do I look spiffy?
Noah: No...you look orange!

In the car I noticed that Noah been exhibiting excellent use of manners.
Jeana: Noah, you are a very polite and smart boy!
Noah: Yep, I'm polite and brown.

P.S. Happy Mother's Day to me. My boys gave me flowers and pumpkin loaf and now they are taking me shopping to get new sandals!

Better Late Than Never

I meant to post these pictures last weekend when we went Camping in the Carlson's Backyard!! But alas, I misplaced my camera. Anway, here are a few shots from our super fun time last weekend.

Andrew roasting a marshmallow in the best outfit ever! "I'm too sexy for my marshmallow..."

Aaaah! A two-headed boy! Oh wait...it's just Noah and Andrew in matching pajamas! They thought it was so cool that they matched.
Outside the tent where the kids and dads slept. The mommies got to sleep inside on real beds...This was the pure genius of camping in a backyard. All the fun of camping and none of the hassle. Cindy Carlson is my hero.
Gettting ready for bed in his Bob the Builder sleeping bag. Geary said Noah slept like a rock in the tent. Geary also said he slept on a rock in the tent. Again, I really appreciated that the mommies got to sleep inside on wonderfully comfortable beds...

Real Life Toy Story

This morning I caught Noah outside his bedroom door, quietly peeking into his room. I started giggling and Noah turned around quickly and said, "Mom! Shhh...I'm waiting for my toys to come alive!"

Bye Geary! See you in a few months!

It has arrived. The dreaded season where man and wife will have only one night a week to connect. The horrid time of year where that one night will most likely be used catching up on sleep. We have entered (dun dun daaaaaaaaaah)TRACK SEASON!

Take a look at Geary's weekly schedule. Keep in mind this is all after school activity.

  • MONDAY: Track practice and Greek
  • TUESDAY: Track Meet
  • WEDNESDAY: Class at SPU
  • THURSDAY: Track Practice (then Jeana has Small Group)
  • FRIDAY: Off

Pray for us. Pray that Geary will have the strength and energy to succeed in all of this and pray that I will have patience and not resent being a "single mother" for a couple months. And most of all pray that we rely on God and that he gives a blessed time of rest and reunion in June.

Helfpul Instructions

As I'm typing this post I have some Morning Star Sausage Patties in the microwave. I don't know when they will be done because the instructions on the box say:

  • Place frozen patties on a microwavable plate
  • Microwave on HIGH setting until heated
  • Turn patties over halfway through cooking time

Gee...thanks...

I also noticed that my deodorant has an "Avoid contact with eyes" warning. Hmm...now what will I do about my stinky eyeball??
