After more than a year of meeting at our local high school while our building was being remodeled, our city finally granted occupancy for our regular building only a couple of days ago. Because of a fluke with the locks at the high school this morning, we spontaneously decided to hold our church service in our beautiful new building.<br />
<br />
Last week, Geary preached about remembering the times that God worked a marvel in getting us through a wilderness. (You can listen to that sermon <a href="http://gbcnewberg.org/sermons/the-gospel-of-psalm-78/" target="_blank">here</a>.)<br />
<br />
This week, Pastor Jon shared about Ebenezer stones: a special stone that Samuel set up in commemoration of God's help to the Israelites in their victory over the Philistines at Mizpah (1 Samuel 7:12). The Israelites set up other stones of remembrance, too, they just weren't all named "Ebenezer." Jon talked about the stones being a reminder that God brought us <i>this far</i>...and he will continue.<br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
God bringing us "this far" has been an important idea to me before. It's part of why how we chose Miles's name. Miles means just what it sounds like. Miles. Distance. Journey. God has taken us on a journey, is taking us on a journey, toward Himself. And we are marveling over the fact that He has even brought us this far. I am reminded of David's prayer after the Lord established his covenant with the king,<br />
<br />
Then King David went in and sat before the LORD, and he said:<br />
"Who am I, O Sovereign LORD, and what is my family, that you have brought me this far? (2Samuel 7:18)<br />
<br />
And of course, all those thoughts, remembering the wilderness, ebenezers, and celebrating being back in our church building, brought a song to my mind: Make a Way by I AM THEY. Give it a listen.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div>
<iframe allowfullscreen="" class="YOUTUBE-iframe-video" data-thumbnail-src="https://i.ytimg.com/vi/beB-aH8vis8/0.jpg" frameborder="0" height="266" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/beB-aH8vis8?feature=player_embedded" width="320"></iframe><br />
<br />
After listening to this song a few times, I decided to finally execute an idea I've had in the back of my mind for years. Introducing the Linhart Ebenezer Door:</div>
<div>
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgamNqi6wrWGa_h7c9KnMVI7wUdiMjkra1KloIK5aCnp5jtQ40zUno4tFDnAL8-e82R2fco6GcEzqF9ZBJLs-55qUXS_oAi5TKn5trK-0oKNKIbpsFUQjJ0TMwGGT5PjAfWxQY7/s1600/IMG_20180715_153536709.jpg"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgamNqi6wrWGa_h7c9KnMVI7wUdiMjkra1KloIK5aCnp5jtQ40zUno4tFDnAL8-e82R2fco6GcEzqF9ZBJLs-55qUXS_oAi5TKn5trK-0oKNKIbpsFUQjJ0TMwGGT5PjAfWxQY7/s400/IMG_20180715_153536709.jpg" /></a><br />
<br />
This door is in our kitchen and I plan to record here all the times that God brings us through a wilderness or provides in a special way. I already wrote down a few things like the births of my children, moving to Newberg, and the most recent trial--a kidney infection that me down for a couple of weeks (you can hear all about it in Geary's sermon above). It doesn't look like much...yet. I hope that soon it will be FILLED up with colorful reminders of what God has done in our family. If we ever move, we'll just bring the door with us (and record that moment on the door, of course)! </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today's sermon from Pastor Adam was about Jesus opening eyes. I'm praying that my eyes will be opened to see the great and wonderful things he's done for us and will continue to do. To God be the glory forever and ever, amen.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>

<div>
So, hi! It's been a while since I've blogged! I stopped for awhile because my kids were getting older and not really loving their whole lives being shared publically. I wanted to honor them and respect their privacy. And then I went through a period of deep grief after my brother died in 2015. And then life was just...different. It's taken me a little bit of time to find my writing voice again and how to move forward from just stories about my kids. But now I know that I want to keep recording our journey here. Especially, those ebenezer moments.<br />

About one year ago I started making a plan to fix the steps down to the bedrooms in our house. I am so happy to say that today I have accomplished that plan!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisW4cwIzjeDjaqkmpDRxcjrymGx9GadWo-ziaGMBQcFwRvnaiHx_ADqvr4LLMIm3nqhiMHxGrCTEQ4mBzEpmpi7he_J4r8OZoB8n9vxHbpiHdDc2pqaGVc8Tq441588gmGPn_U/s1600/Desktop.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEisW4cwIzjeDjaqkmpDRxcjrymGx9GadWo-ziaGMBQcFwRvnaiHx_ADqvr4LLMIm3nqhiMHxGrCTEQ4mBzEpmpi7he_J4r8OZoB8n9vxHbpiHdDc2pqaGVc8Tq441588gmGPn_U/s1600/Desktop.jpg" height="640" width="448" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
They just might be the prettiest steps I've ever seen.</div>

Towards the end of last school year, Geary told me he would really like a desk area at home. I thought I could accommodate that request but it would mean switching bedrooms around again. Noah got his own room back in November and thankfully Miles and Toby were eager for a change, too. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
While Geary was away at conference I switched all the bedroom furniture, stained the boys' bunk bed, and painted the walls of our new/old master bedroom. At the end of that weekend I posted this video on Facebook with the progress I had made on the little boys' room.</div>

I got the blinds hung up and stole the bookshelf from Noah's room. It's a junky old one that we've had for about 10 years and all the laminate is peeling off. But it's the perfect size and I like how the cubbies help the boys keep their books nice and neat. I'm hoping to find a nicer quality bookshelf soon.</div>

The closet turned out even better than I had hoped for. We removed the doors and it makes the room feel so much bigger! We took the cubbies that were stacked in their old room and hung them high on the closet wall. I'd like to add a couple more pieces of art on this wall. And I'm not sure I'll keep that orange robot bin thing. We don't really have a use for it but I do love the color and texture it adds to the room. "Dairy!"<br />

<br />
"We could TP him again!" I can't believe he didn't wake up while we were "decorating" his room.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNwLZ-f4QFRE7dW77a3z2R4B0DOXWJvrbaAg9y1QRg5tCv_Zxn0XR2V48SGjRxnU8_5NzYKY7Tig53MDJ4fqTZM4KqsoZA7HDSMXw3Kv5BG6fMcRP8oPEG-AcV_h3wcPnHs4X2/s1600/DSCN8112.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNwLZ-f4QFRE7dW77a3z2R4B0DOXWJvrbaAg9y1QRg5tCv_Zxn0XR2V48SGjRxnU8_5NzYKY7Tig53MDJ4fqTZM4KqsoZA7HDSMXw3Kv5BG6fMcRP8oPEG-AcV_h3wcPnHs4X2/s1600/DSCN8112.JPG" height="480" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
We got tired of waiting for him to wake up so we started tossing full rolls of toilet paper at his sleeping body. That worked!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Of course, then we had to dodge the TP rolls as they came flying back at us. Hence, the blurry photos.<br />

We still haven't seen a letter from Hogwarts but he won't technically be eleven until 11:26 pm tonight. Geary and I could not be more proud of our firstborn son. He is kind, generous, helpful, smart, witty, and sincere. He is an excellent big brother, a hardworking student, an incredible lego designer, and has an amazing, creative imagination. We are so grateful to have been entrusted to raise this extraordinary young man. Happy birthday, Noah James! We love you!</div>

Four years ago our precious Miles John was born and our lives have never been the same. Miles is hilarious, spunky, goofy, and sweet. Well, it's Christmas Bazaar season! This weekend I have my first bazaar of the season. I set up my booth this afternoon and I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. One thing that's cracking me up in this photo though is that my bunting banner looks like it reads Hat Shappy. Also, my table cloth is crooked.</div>

Almost three years ago my friend Chris gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Zayana Grace. Zayana was born with a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta (OI). You may know this condition as Brittle Bones. Chris and her husband, Ernesto, were told that their baby would probably not survive childbirth. Their little family had so many people praying for them and beautiful little Z defied the odds and lived for 16 weeks. My heart simultaneously rejoiced and broke for my dear friend. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
In Zayana's honor, Chris started <a href="https://www.facebook.com/FromZwithLove">From Z with Love</a>, a non-profit organization which sends care packages to other families with OI babies. She and Ernesto have also celebrated Zayana's birthday each year by gathering donations for St. Vincent's Hospital NICU. Last year Chris asked if anyone would be able to figure out how to make little dolls that absorb the parent's scent that could be placed in the incubators with the NICU babies to help aid in bonding. I took on the challenge and came up with Zbabies.</div>

The OI community uses the image of a snowflake to represent their beautiful, unique, delicate children. And they use the color yellow to raise awareness for OI. And, of course, the Z is for Zayana.</div>

Here is the first Zbaby I made. Isn't is cute? I can totally picture this little guy as baby's special lovey. These little dolls are so easy to make! Chris and Ernesto want to be able to donate a whole bunch of Zbabies to the NICU. So here's a tutorial on how to make them. Zayana's Third Birthday Bash is on December 23, 2013 and if you'd like to make some of these dolls for Chris and Ernesto to take with them on that day you can email me (jeanalinhart@gmail.com) and I'll send you the address where they can be mailed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Please use this tutorial to make these dolls as gifts and as donations to hospitals. But please do not use this tutorial to make dolls to sell. Thanks for understanding!</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You could probably use wool yarn but it would be expensive and pain to wind it up into a ball. I found my wool a local yarn and spinning shop. If you don't have one nearby you can order online from my local shop <a href="http://www.pacificwoolandfiber.com/">Pacific Wool & Fiber</a>. They sell 8 ounces of wool for $10.95 plus shipping. I recommend the Cotswold wool because it's really fluffy. If you bought two four packs of receiving blankets and one package of wool you could make 8 Zbabies! If you don't want to make quite that many I can send you the amount you want for $1.50 each plus shipping. Just email me--I'm happy to help!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The reason it has to be wool is because wool is excellent at absorbing scents and it has antibacterial and antimicrobial properties.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wash and dry the receiving blankets and flannel. Try to use unscented detergent if you can.</div>

Some receiving blankets are not perfectly square so if you end up with a band of fabric on one side of your triangle cut it off so that the blanket is square. Save the fabric band, though. It will be useful for the hat later.</div>

Using a needle and thread sew all the way through the neck right through the satin stitching until the wool ball is secure. It helps to have a long needle so you can sew all the way through one side and out the other.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Now we're going to top stitch from the edge of one arm all the way around to the edge of the other. This will close up the opening and give a nice detail to the doll. I just did a straight stitch but if your machine does decorative stitches you could do that, too.</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
After you're done stitching the entire body, tie little knots at the end of each arm. We're almost done! We just need to make a hat.</div>

I like to buy my receiving blankets in 4 packs from Target. I use one blanket for all the hats. Cut off one corner of the receiving blanket so that you have a triangle that is about 5 inches tall.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I don't have a picture of this step but remember the band you cut off from your first receiving blanket? Use that or another coordinating piece of flannel. Fold it in half lenghtwise and sew it to the bottom edge of the triangle like this:</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBqB5JttqkJB5c7yboooDxWsVzGu5izcVXp9Zg7Fa18BV6rnjjzs2_Yy-edcaUaX5_d19KetP541RWrW1mke8RyIfSRM73Edz05Uv4YHNOieaSG1bV_22_i2yAEgGeMPfEW11d/s1600/DSCN6473.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjBqB5JttqkJB5c7yboooDxWsVzGu5izcVXp9Zg7Fa18BV6rnjjzs2_Yy-edcaUaX5_d19KetP541RWrW1mke8RyIfSRM73Edz05Uv4YHNOieaSG1bV_22_i2yAEgGeMPfEW11d/s640/DSCN6473.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Wrap the hat around your doll's head to find the right fit. You may have to trim down the width of of the hat. Fold the triangle in half with the right sides facing in.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiASVnD0hy_suQWv90Gb08SaNaiaxMgoQilLg8SrMHyvvRod9S8i57N48vbQ6der_LQGYXsjh3BgxOYyuYjY8wxtxlvzjJ4SRDPRmFoPut2J7K9gbJiKGb7rJsMBeY2XjBWXdLL/s1600/DSCN6474.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiASVnD0hy_suQWv90Gb08SaNaiaxMgoQilLg8SrMHyvvRod9S8i57N48vbQ6der_LQGYXsjh3BgxOYyuYjY8wxtxlvzjJ4SRDPRmFoPut2J7K9gbJiKGb7rJsMBeY2XjBWXdLL/s640/DSCN6474.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Straight stitch from the top of the hat all the way down to the where the band starts. DO NOT stitch the band closed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsx-_khnlh3Uds1VQW9UOOTFygqSb8XnwZmwI0Yx_ylyVlWFjUtVKu0XiZuu5-Ue00jMKf4mptwX2Br7y5H9QxD70-LIJB39xaxcyfwdP-N0J-XVggNHp0MxabEIMRG4pJkuY1/s1600/DSCN6475.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgsx-_khnlh3Uds1VQW9UOOTFygqSb8XnwZmwI0Yx_ylyVlWFjUtVKu0XiZuu5-Ue00jMKf4mptwX2Br7y5H9QxD70-LIJB39xaxcyfwdP-N0J-XVggNHp0MxabEIMRG4pJkuY1/s640/DSCN6475.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Turn the hat right side out and then stitch the band closed. This is so that the seam will be on the inside once we flip the hat band up.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo8WJGIwbDtIaADgHTxtCXAFYF4jTVQJjb9B0xeWP7MhOb2_RcAsZyUS8DV_lVjk-I5_0zTC-GjBcFPG-K6P5HSPB9T66eYKFk52dW1WmQunwdTO4Y1wfWknGNvGZl7Vu3pSrT/s1600/DSCN6476.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgo8WJGIwbDtIaADgHTxtCXAFYF4jTVQJjb9B0xeWP7MhOb2_RcAsZyUS8DV_lVjk-I5_0zTC-GjBcFPG-K6P5HSPB9T66eYKFk52dW1WmQunwdTO4Y1wfWknGNvGZl7Vu3pSrT/s640/DSCN6476.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Place the hat on your doll so that the back of the hat goes all the way down past the neck seam. It will look too low but remember that we are going to flip that band up again.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVIOPTX-RK9UU1KpMGSgdPMj3r0XdRqsZJsuL9tk7gUd2Dm99FAfnAMIRxTq-vO248ngy6PFktDm40kfZgtCDUx2cYbXtwAOCuMxvfxWXWtHiop8-tOFz9L7QxGyBjz-4hijs3/s1600/DSCN6477.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhVIOPTX-RK9UU1KpMGSgdPMj3r0XdRqsZJsuL9tk7gUd2Dm99FAfnAMIRxTq-vO248ngy6PFktDm40kfZgtCDUx2cYbXtwAOCuMxvfxWXWtHiop8-tOFz9L7QxGyBjz-4hijs3/s640/DSCN6477.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Stitch the hat to the dolls head right inside the seam of the hat and the hat band. Again, babies...secure stitching...you know the drill.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtqWSaWDzOvIxdSIVZy6YPJP7X5crSoe8gWXy3v-dypoucN1fjzZYrqAhgTp3KCBxjzoxDoUtSSvy4addN9leWy80umZrk79VeIwyqiIcbW0Rlo8kyxQgKyd5vLGzfWP1P4pGj/s1600/DSCN6479.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgtqWSaWDzOvIxdSIVZy6YPJP7X5crSoe8gWXy3v-dypoucN1fjzZYrqAhgTp3KCBxjzoxDoUtSSvy4addN9leWy80umZrk79VeIwyqiIcbW0Rlo8kyxQgKyd5vLGzfWP1P4pGj/s640/DSCN6479.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Flip the band up. See how the band seam is correct now?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUgZxkEPqRqdkhClXy5T0u-7WyN3P_J07L9l_v7PBtCgiA_WGNTGG-snS1g5Neq3tZjcfn6-9kmjXjY0rkRadW2h6wmiWhZzI2Dbq_Ok2S-MzyQ7u5_MnplH_kiYzz0wAmfh_c/s1600/DSCN6483.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgUgZxkEPqRqdkhClXy5T0u-7WyN3P_J07L9l_v7PBtCgiA_WGNTGG-snS1g5Neq3tZjcfn6-9kmjXjY0rkRadW2h6wmiWhZzI2Dbq_Ok2S-MzyQ7u5_MnplH_kiYzz0wAmfh_c/s640/DSCN6483.JPG" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And you did it! You made a Zbaby!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoN782NQhBM1O3SNsAU-3gBWv2IeThZ72-vRYaZujGprgmOM8ZDZSAsdDAhiiZZZzeHetvpXgia6QsvLcgMF3OprudRxcNMTC1HAjlA7TR7FVY3JBhWTCo1v0sI_RQBVA-LPHv/s1600/DSCN6484.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgoN782NQhBM1O3SNsAU-3gBWv2IeThZ72-vRYaZujGprgmOM8ZDZSAsdDAhiiZZZzeHetvpXgia6QsvLcgMF3OprudRxcNMTC1HAjlA7TR7FVY3JBhWTCo1v0sI_RQBVA-LPHv/s640/DSCN6484.JPG" /></a></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
There is just one more step. We want to prevent the Zbabies from absorbing any other scent besides the parent's scent. So fold your Zbaby up so that it looks like it's wrapped in a blanket and place it in a ziploc bag. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjodIAKvF2Vr9OTj0y0Coijq6q7wY9ezhLakewz0veTL67EN02HbN2XhAhf0MKSFNEkY_2G9yjIzOm0LFSacwytN3fOG_aTb2FXmWeNR1aVGt2nYJPy9ct09FI0LKr9q6cqjgmZ/s1600/DSCN6488.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="616" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjodIAKvF2Vr9OTj0y0Coijq6q7wY9ezhLakewz0veTL67EN02HbN2XhAhf0MKSFNEkY_2G9yjIzOm0LFSacwytN3fOG_aTb2FXmWeNR1aVGt2nYJPy9ct09FI0LKr9q6cqjgmZ/s640/DSCN6488.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You can print the image below and fold it half to make a cute label for your Zbaby. If you'd like to have a pdf of this label just email me (jeanalinhart@gmail.com) and I'll send it to you.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic-0BDEApiN2xywcDuuB2uhBPCJ3IbHLwkHUgXCGHegOivcWeSQF9aSVrCtZ8Ja3GYIPRi5RZr5Y2Oq5HNPNF4RDhpaMAknLd9edQlQpLnIWPQPPEU6gPTpFo7hoirQrCjEoVH/s1600/zbaby+package.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEic-0BDEApiN2xywcDuuB2uhBPCJ3IbHLwkHUgXCGHegOivcWeSQF9aSVrCtZ8Ja3GYIPRi5RZr5Y2Oq5HNPNF4RDhpaMAknLd9edQlQpLnIWPQPPEU6gPTpFo7hoirQrCjEoVH/s640/zbaby+package.jpg" width="494" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Just staple each of the bottom corners to the bag like this.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvZbH_ZYkO_DpokaaQiv7rFNhp3k7k7Pimv_dso7s9d7Oob7BcyzthLs5FAE87FV-CAyfFoh8AazI3lJ26PRLX1wdR0lQt7p5IohzMvPT0YTMmS3cS83gMj6ntHIrJ8xq3gKsI/s1600/DSCN6489.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjvZbH_ZYkO_DpokaaQiv7rFNhp3k7k7Pimv_dso7s9d7Oob7BcyzthLs5FAE87FV-CAyfFoh8AazI3lJ26PRLX1wdR0lQt7p5IohzMvPT0YTMmS3cS83gMj6ntHIrJ8xq3gKsI/s640/DSCN6489.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
You did it! You're awesome! Now go make a bunch more and share this tutorial with your friends so we can flood the NICU with Zbabies!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>

I was sick on Halloween so this is the one and only picture I have of the boys. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDyNSt8ipJm7uteIp1Vg2iJh9eZGMgKD7FmMRhHTBXWHYYYXlZ3Wh80xojlV6_hE-uyomHrUZLiiF-p-pgbor35T_90IVYCKRQKkwjxgwUb7Vcu5xwHxPrr5KYuKS6B8sje60p/s1600/DSCN6400.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhDyNSt8ipJm7uteIp1Vg2iJh9eZGMgKD7FmMRhHTBXWHYYYXlZ3Wh80xojlV6_hE-uyomHrUZLiiF-p-pgbor35T_90IVYCKRQKkwjxgwUb7Vcu5xwHxPrr5KYuKS6B8sje60p/s640/DSCN6400.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Several weeks ago my friend Katie asked if I had any good ideas on how to make a Creature Power vest based on the awesome kid's show Wild Kratts. Her son is a big fan and so is Miles so I suggested we make some Creature Power vests together.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLgJ_7OyFMQ99JKZsQpqwnhSjIeH7PfGaMEcJKBcvmKkxdi3nxJoTbRlbOGo-zApCEOfd-_Ccia_LHYpwWeeAgYnPzYDkHCq82Bk7v9jQCugJaEYwXrlzGhgYGBGjl_6JNlRCa/s1600/Wild-Kratts-post-510x483.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgLgJ_7OyFMQ99JKZsQpqwnhSjIeH7PfGaMEcJKBcvmKkxdi3nxJoTbRlbOGo-zApCEOfd-_Ccia_LHYpwWeeAgYnPzYDkHCq82Bk7v9jQCugJaEYwXrlzGhgYGBGjl_6JNlRCa/s400/Wild-Kratts-post-510x483.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We ended up having a sewing party at Katie's house with our other friend, Rhonda. It was so much fun and we made four vests that day for our little guys. When Noah and Toby saw Miles' vest they each wanted their own. So I made two more vests on the condition that these would also serve as Halloween costumes. We also made some Creature Power Discs which are not shown in the picture.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
It was really cool being finished with costumes so early. But it was really not cool when we couldn't find Miles' vest even though he had been playing with it pretty much nonstop for the entire month of October. He decided to go as Iron Man and flippantly stated, "I don't need the mask." He sounded just like Tony Stark.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
We let the boys trick or treat around our neighborhood and had the completely satisfying experience of having the Wild Kratts vest be recognized by complete strangers. So validating! Then we came home and passed out candy to other kids while we watched a movie together. Another little Iron Man saw Miles and his jaw dropped, "You're Iron Man just like ME!!!" </div>

A whole box full of Halloween fun. Chocolate bars wrapped in bat wings, mini light sabers, balloons, window stickers and fake mustaches and eyebrows. <br />
Jeana: Trying to make it look pretty.<br />
<br />
Miles: Oh. Then everyone will be sad.<br />
<br />
Jeana: Why will they be sad?<br />
<br />
Miles: Because then you will get a trophy. A pretty hair trophy.<br />
<br />
Jeana: Oh. And they'll be sad because they didn't get a trophy, too?<br />
<br />
Miles: No. They'll be sad because they don't like your sweater.<br />

When fall comes with its gray and drizzly skies it's like waking up from a magical dream. You don't know where you are at first. Yesterday I paced the house all day, unsure of what I was supposed to be doing. Today I seem to have finally wiped the "sleep" from my eyes. It's fall. Time to get cozy. I am supposed to drink tea.Jeanahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17062594912627577785noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10262066.post-89003417024630003972013-09-16T12:32:00.002-07:002013-09-16T13:51:15.244-07:00That's Happy UpdateWell, I'm happy to say that That's Happy is doing really well!<br />
<br />
I've been listing new merchandise like crazy! I have a bunch of these adorable Vintage Fisher Price Little People.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj66zrMXn0F_exUbJlt0nhjw_v-Fy1GPdN2k-Huki_EzpG7igkvMsqpoxUay46HTPLYikB2AAfuX2Q2-m1wj4BtyuWclNuy_opDqlh6DUBcJQ5TmszjXFs-59MqLcl2Zjv1qlKi/s1600/Already+listed+LP.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj66zrMXn0F_exUbJlt0nhjw_v-Fy1GPdN2k-Huki_EzpG7igkvMsqpoxUay46HTPLYikB2AAfuX2Q2-m1wj4BtyuWclNuy_opDqlh6DUBcJQ5TmszjXFs-59MqLcl2Zjv1qlKi/s640/Already+listed+LP.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
And even a few of their bigger accessories like this super cute family camper. They've already been seeing a lot of love on etsy. These are such fantastic toys! I wish my kids were still into them. They've all moved on to legos, legos, legos all the time.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I've also listed some new jewelry. Remember my Candy Shoppe necklace? I added some earrings! They're so funny and cute. I want to make some with Christmas colored sprinkles. If you can't get away with wearing candy on ears at Christmas, when can you?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_8-FcOg_F6uDIvo6LIMHr4HwFG3ikMnngX5xB_q_Syq2laojqKPZn7JW_cM1eBRQvMG1guMPR1zRhGnQBF6HQFbYqKEYPafX8xPUlW0q4AjUNZ-cBJ4MiQk0y2fzyVaDhjxqn/s1600/DSCN6052.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh_8-FcOg_F6uDIvo6LIMHr4HwFG3ikMnngX5xB_q_Syq2laojqKPZn7JW_cM1eBRQvMG1guMPR1zRhGnQBF6HQFbYqKEYPafX8xPUlW0q4AjUNZ-cBJ4MiQk0y2fzyVaDhjxqn/s400/DSCN6052.JPG" width="398" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
These next few pairs are some of my new favorites. So simple and mod. They are flat tear drop shapes cut from copper and coated with a layer of enamel on the front. This teal pair sold within 10 minutes of me listing it. But I'm definitely going to make more--they are so fun!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdskFPgO2uhtKF5Cb9h39w4ZkzhTtktciN4o7OtK-11NV7JfbZwOc2IS4f3BUlNUJOV2t5omCwed57fa1Qxx2WHl19uiaQcv5UmZAH4zMaV-D4Rzcir-88g6A5oVRIDFAM-oRf/s1600/DSCN6055.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhdskFPgO2uhtKF5Cb9h39w4ZkzhTtktciN4o7OtK-11NV7JfbZwOc2IS4f3BUlNUJOV2t5omCwed57fa1Qxx2WHl19uiaQcv5UmZAH4zMaV-D4Rzcir-88g6A5oVRIDFAM-oRf/s640/DSCN6055.JPG" width="638" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
They are also really pretty in just plain copper. The copper is aged so it has a really nice patina and low lustre.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSP9pnhrYBUUp5ZAmZZfQLUY-PWXgLv9foYXImy2a55ckbRH2vP-RpiuZ8YrK9QKZCJr7F4rgNCLRH7dKeh9hyphenhyphendVhE5AKDkjrlmKo4aIoVUL1Qhx4oAhLXQ4pXTTk70mMMGpi1/s1600/DSCN6071.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSP9pnhrYBUUp5ZAmZZfQLUY-PWXgLv9foYXImy2a55ckbRH2vP-RpiuZ8YrK9QKZCJr7F4rgNCLRH7dKeh9hyphenhyphendVhE5AKDkjrlmKo4aIoVUL1Qhx4oAhLXQ4pXTTk70mMMGpi1/s640/DSCN6071.JPG" width="638" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Here they are again in a deep blackberry purple color. I just love them!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
The vintage side of my shop has been so fun! I have a bunch of new treasures that I'm working on listing. Taking photos and editing them takes the longest time. But I'm really enjoying that part, too.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Look at this sweet little tea towel! It's meant to be embroidered but the drawn on picture is cute as is, too.</div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I found this 1978 calendar and was drawn to the rich colors. Wouldn't it be so sweet to draw a heart around the birthday or anniversary of someone you know who was born or married in 1978 in Alaska? I think it would also make a really fun throw pillow or tote bag.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
And then there are the scarves. I had a small stash of Ruffle Scarves leftover from last Christmas. I decided to discontinue them and then a friend from high school asked if I had any more. I took pictures of what I had left and then decided since I already had the pictures I might as well list them in my shop. You guys, I sold out within 24 hours!<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I have enough fabric to make a few more scarves so that's what I'll be working on over the next couple of weeks. They are really pretty and fun. Now I'm thinking twice about discontinuing them!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_f8VKYmFKxghTZl42rLWPp5JwsJoCpED3RD7sTSBImchhu8YvC8bzcXx-TkZbaEI7m629YHxB-rlrq2MeH8izCwoVIvNxYsvIoG2pPPueLNh_kIT80sqHDLyFh7QnOm5-YPX1/s1600/DSCN6037.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg_f8VKYmFKxghTZl42rLWPp5JwsJoCpED3RD7sTSBImchhu8YvC8bzcXx-TkZbaEI7m629YHxB-rlrq2MeH8izCwoVIvNxYsvIoG2pPPueLNh_kIT80sqHDLyFh7QnOm5-YPX1/s640/DSCN6037.JPG" width="430" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I also made this lovely infinity scarf. I'm not planning on making a bunch of them but I found this fabric and it just seemed to say, "Make me into an infinity scarf." So I did. The fabric came from a sweet friend who is moving and she let me rummage through her fantastic fabric collection last week. I came away with a bunch of treasures so hopefully there will be some new sewn things in my shop this fall.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This change has been so good for me. I am excited about creating again! It truly is <i>happy.</i></div>

When we first moved into our house I painted this area a deep, chocolate brown. It was a nice contrast with our kitchen color.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJnRoA7FjbtuPMLeg8XCwy-buNl32tjiJzu8oeZgOp9pRLAu6hZLx7Of4T_d0BYr3LtWKnrcNJHn9xDbaNvbBFRaqo6UO012SEtTHZD3qs9_IXXljSlTkWaHgtISdw5Y2wcBZW/s1600/before+hallway.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgJnRoA7FjbtuPMLeg8XCwy-buNl32tjiJzu8oeZgOp9pRLAu6hZLx7Of4T_d0BYr3LtWKnrcNJHn9xDbaNvbBFRaqo6UO012SEtTHZD3qs9_IXXljSlTkWaHgtISdw5Y2wcBZW/s640/before+hallway.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Aw, new carpet. How quickly you came to look dirty and disgusting!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZANf_3pXfH_1CyXBG560xaCIjcucsfLYQ33KbcWpAmVMZHRt6tPc6FrCjYV9eHNlq5xNAKiu3ZYYj8dGovhJ84TR0kfvVbiZOj011FToilTOktc0BixqXb2qs_SUPBlhQWJAN/s1600/hallway+before.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiZANf_3pXfH_1CyXBG560xaCIjcucsfLYQ33KbcWpAmVMZHRt6tPc6FrCjYV9eHNlq5xNAKiu3ZYYj8dGovhJ84TR0kfvVbiZOj011FToilTOktc0BixqXb2qs_SUPBlhQWJAN/s640/hallway+before.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
It stayed like this for a couple of years and then I added a gallery of white frames.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8FDBBujnGsI6L27tMN_0eXg-DPMt_0heYVWS7H0XxWwtG-0EuADuQ08wpL1KIa_hv6yPboQChmNEIcCDC4jQr1NKRs5kaBP_x24ajuT0DiBPLzy6LYo0_niHK10ljO79dCHSE/s1600/gallery.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="552" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj8FDBBujnGsI6L27tMN_0eXg-DPMt_0heYVWS7H0XxWwtG-0EuADuQ08wpL1KIa_hv6yPboQChmNEIcCDC4jQr1NKRs5kaBP_x24ajuT0DiBPLzy6LYo0_niHK10ljO79dCHSE/s640/gallery.JPG" width="640" /></a></div>
<br />
Which didn't work out as nicely as I thought. I was constantly straightening frames and a couple fell off the wall after some especially boisterous boy activity. The carpet started looked dingy and dirty and the white doors reflected the brown paint and then with the new dark floors I was just over the darkness of the whole space. I needed color. So I painted orange and white stripes.<br />
<br />
This is such an awkward space to take pictures of. I promise that it doesn't look like a crazy circus house in real life. <br />
<br />
I love, love, love the orange stripes. They are a soft orange, like cantaloupe or dreamsicles. That ugly light fixture has got to go. I'm just not sure what I want to replace it with yet.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2M3uolMuFnwv5RESsy2rhBk2LD-u3yDMphjFU1SxKjECFfUclW1gePV6m15P8IdtJjfFotsdFnxj7ENFxezReYr2MOqO-_36pEzJTKdpJTR5QQ19OuH48IgYM8ScwloRFPdsO/s1600/DSCN6020.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh2M3uolMuFnwv5RESsy2rhBk2LD-u3yDMphjFU1SxKjECFfUclW1gePV6m15P8IdtJjfFotsdFnxj7ENFxezReYr2MOqO-_36pEzJTKdpJTR5QQ19OuH48IgYM8ScwloRFPdsO/s640/DSCN6020.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
I would really love to replace all the doors and doorknobs in our house. Just saving money for that. It's actually not too expensive of a project, although I know I will need help hanging the new doors. We're also going to add trim all the away around the entrance to this little step down area. It's hard to explain in these pictures. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5LW5tXPuJWpFkHtaRAwlNiZ71Dbi_jzA_oS9hJH8E6rRymdAHpytCJlTHG5n9CfWMxnSr16z3xq7bByhqiqMYgyyOGdy4XDcoE1As5U8rHtH6OkdWMqP5iqdAKJCk3Rcr-ZwI/s1600/DSCN6023.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj5LW5tXPuJWpFkHtaRAwlNiZ71Dbi_jzA_oS9hJH8E6rRymdAHpytCJlTHG5n9CfWMxnSr16z3xq7bByhqiqMYgyyOGdy4XDcoE1As5U8rHtH6OkdWMqP5iqdAKJCk3Rcr-ZwI/s640/DSCN6023.JPG" /></a></div>
<br />
Above is the door to the master bedroom. To the left of the stripes is the laundry room. So the trim would go on that corner there both on the stripey side and on the blue/green side where the laundry room is. And then across the top because the ceiling is lower in the step down area.<br />
<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSRlown1A6u0wuj5HeYVuOkc-Ea5DXmOHGZT9mqEEY5zIgDXmIHcYX34HT6M4mKLKO-FHinM1tzzZrd6EGHevgXs7sWdst2tfjvpDEl6kq7UvYHP2a87nr4ZY2C9GBYga4oGWi/s1600/DSCN6024.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhSRlown1A6u0wuj5HeYVuOkc-Ea5DXmOHGZT9mqEEY5zIgDXmIHcYX34HT6M4mKLKO-FHinM1tzzZrd6EGHevgXs7sWdst2tfjvpDEl6kq7UvYHP2a87nr4ZY2C9GBYga4oGWi/s640/DSCN6024.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And same thing for this side. Trim on the stripey side and then trim on the kitchen wall and going across the top to make kind of a V-shaped doorway. I'll show you when it's all done. In the above picture the door leads to the craft room. Also, you can see how I've added white switch plate covers but the switch and outlets are still almond. Classy. Those will all get changed out, too.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
And now for the ugly part. I ripped up the dirty carpet.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZqNTgBjcV2DmQtwoOTTAxfAUWlQrSU7oJtavNSvSDZbcGG5t0pUbuUZR_PnBOneAQTI2UOUIvapaeRRl35MvRKghFw7TQ35uN8fbhcc7ja7M8N4xSuWeyfRN878cwnKBsoc8H/s1600/DSCN6025.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZqNTgBjcV2DmQtwoOTTAxfAUWlQrSU7oJtavNSvSDZbcGG5t0pUbuUZR_PnBOneAQTI2UOUIvapaeRRl35MvRKghFw7TQ35uN8fbhcc7ja7M8N4xSuWeyfRN878cwnKBsoc8H/s640/DSCN6025.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm going to continue the kitchen/laundry room floor down these steps and to the doors. But first I have to fill all those holes in the concrete. And I'm debating over whether to pour self leveling concrete and then lay the new floors over that. Or to just put down a new wood sub-floor over the concrete and then put the new planks on <i>that.</i> They both have pros and cons.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOSR0EQfFS0aKBIb8P9b_iEAsZJ2yOiC-Rwj2dx4SyXULyUgdgdMJyymZgHvsslGcb61iX7RAhPVbglAqp_km4odDOkF6T1bUQmVKp2OiEPP5y34ewYq16AjmS3um4WGQB4B22/s1600/DSCN6026.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhOSR0EQfFS0aKBIb8P9b_iEAsZJ2yOiC-Rwj2dx4SyXULyUgdgdMJyymZgHvsslGcb61iX7RAhPVbglAqp_km4odDOkF6T1bUQmVKp2OiEPP5y34ewYq16AjmS3um4WGQB4B22/s640/DSCN6026.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
I'm thinking that the wood will go on the floor and the steps and I'll paint the risers white. Oh yeah, I need to attach wood risers to the front of these concrete steps.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv4R4mQm1cGgJ1vrYjHcB2gwDoUoLWbUNrJyRVQX_MkBOynAZn92WyBKuVzFS4H-HN4mXVntbF6Xeg_qMMVGvRVNIPSkiheOKMkaAdWWG7z2_M5tgRY53cuP8S1q2fd4-R7t_d/s1600/DSCN6027.JPG" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhv4R4mQm1cGgJ1vrYjHcB2gwDoUoLWbUNrJyRVQX_MkBOynAZn92WyBKuVzFS4H-HN4mXVntbF6Xeg_qMMVGvRVNIPSkiheOKMkaAdWWG7z2_M5tgRY53cuP8S1q2fd4-R7t_d/s640/DSCN6027.JPG" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
Tricky, tricky. But it's going to look awesome when it's done!</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
So here's the plan of attack.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<ul>
<li>Figure out the sub-floor.</li>
<li>Lay new flooring.</li>
<li>Install trim.</li>
<li>Install new baseboards (throughout the whole house, except bedrooms)</li>
<li>Replace doors and doorknobs</li>
<li>Replace almond switches and outlets with white ones</li>
<li>Replace ugly boob light with beautiful light that I haven't found yet.</li>
</ul>
<div>
Easy-peasy lemon squeezy, right?</div>

<br />
Miles: There's O!<br />
Jeana: Yes! O for Oval.<br />
<br />
Miles: That's S!<br />
Jeana: Mmm-hmm. S for Snake!<br />
<br />
Miles: What's this letter?<br />
Jeana: Oh, that's a number. That's 8.<br />
Miles: Yes. 8 for snowman.Jeanahttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17062594912627577785noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10262066.post-12182802641586576812013-09-09T14:01:00.001-07:002013-09-09T14:15:55.991-07:00Mommy and MilesI love Miles so much. But after this first week of school with his brothers gone all day, my ears are a little tired from his constant chatter! <br />
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
He often retells stories to me and he likes start with "You know what?" </div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
"You know what that guy said?"<br />"You know what cows like to eat for breakfast?"<br />"You know what I'm gonna be today?"</blockquote>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
If I respond with a simple, "What?" he thinks I haven't heard his question. So our conversations go like this:</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Miles: You know what that guy said?<br />Jeana: What?<br />Miles: You know what that guy said?<br />Jeana: <i>What?</i><i><br /></i>Miles: <i>DO YOU KNOW WHAT THAT GUY SAID?</i><i><br /></i>Jeana: No. What did he say?<br />Miles: He said, "I like bacon."</blockquote>
</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
I am learning to respond with a full sentence answer the first time.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Another thing that's amusing/annoying about talking to Miles is that he'll ask the same question 45 times in a row. At our back to school night we had an ice cream social. This was our conversation.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq">
Miles: Are we going to have ice cream?<br />Jeana: Yes!<br />Miles: Can we?<br />Jeana: Yes. I already said yes.<br />Miles: Can we <i>please?</i></blockquote>
</div>
<div>
<i><br /></i></div>
<div>
So I've started a new thing I'm calling "Asked & Answered." If Miles asks me a question repeatedly that I've already answered, I ask him, "Did I already answer your question?" Usually he'll nod. Then I'll confirm, "Asked and answered." I don't even think it's that he wants me to change my mind...obviously not in the case of the ice cream. But nonetheless I want him to know that I mean what I say and that my first answer will remain <i>the</i> answer until I say otherwise. So far he's responding well. Although, he likes to put his own spin on it.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Today he used the bathroom and called out, "Mom! I'm done pooping! I need help wiping!"</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
So I wiped his bottom and he declared, "Asked and answered!" </div>
