Avast, me hearties!

A couple weeks ago Papa John and Grandma Mary took all the cousins shopping.  Miles picked out a pirate hat, eye patch, and foam sword.  A few days later we found a foam pirate hook.  Miles has worn all of this nearly every day for over two weeks.  Well, except for the eye patch.  He broke the elastic on that right away.

Each day I would comment, "I should make you a little pirate vest."  And Miles would quip, "Yes.  I need a pirate vest.  Make me a pirate vest."

So finally, this morning, I made him a pirate vest.  It's just a cut up old t-shirt, quick and easy.  When Miles put the vest on he smiled.  And then he said, "Now I need pirate pants!"

There was a whole list of things Miles "needed" this morning:  a repaired eye patch, a treasure map, and little pouch necklace to hold his "pinks-y dust."    We had so much fun starting our day by being creative with him.  The older boys made their own treasure maps, too.

They've spent most of the day outside hunting for treasure, sailing the seven seas, fighting sea monsters, making each other walk the plank.  I've heard several exclamations about somebody being a "willy-wivered codfish!"

Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!
