Wax on, Wax off

Noah:  Toby, can you clean that up?
Toby: What will happen if I do?
Noah: Maybe Mom will be really happy!
Toby: Well, that won't teach me karate!

    Lol.

    This reminds me of some of the early exercises we had this year in my g.design program. A lot of the kids were complaining about how pointless the exercises seemed, but I kept thinking about Karate Kid and figured these were the "wax on, wax off" stage of graphic designing. Sure enough… by the end of the year, the things that we'd "pointlessly" done at the beginning of the year were things that we could do in our sleep by the end of the year, which helped the actual design process go so much smoother!!

    (And of course, those who had complained the loudest in the beginning were the ones struggling with the easy stuff at then end. Just goes to show that early conditioning can pay off!)
