Family Date: Hoodwinked
Recently, the Linhart Family has made Tuesday nights "Family Date" night. It's been really fun to go out with my two boys and create fun family memories and bonds.
Last night we saw the movie Hoodwinked, a retelling of the Little Red Riding Hood Story. It was super fun! After the movie I asked Noah what his favorite part of the movie was and he said, "The big bat ruff is a good guy!"

Noah: Mom, you know Grandma?
Jeana: Yeah...
Noah: I think she likes Grandpa Bob.
Jeana (chuckling): I think you're right.
Noah: And you know Grandpa Bob?
Jeana: Yep. Do you think he likes Grandma?
Noah: No. I think he likes ducks.
Jeana: Yeah...

Bargaining
Noah is doing GREAT with potty training. He can keep his underwear dry all day and he's really proud of being a big boy. The only thing that's keeping him from being fully potty trained is that he won't poop in the potty. As an incentive, I've offered to buy him "Dizzy" (one of the trucks in the Bob Builder set that he loves so much) when he poops in the potty. So far, it hasn't worked. And I think I know why. Noah is aiming for something much, much bigger.
We were shopping at Walmart when Noah saw the ride-on electronic powerwheels John Deere tractor..."Mom, maybe you can buy me this when I poop in the potty."

Lessons From Parenthood
In Sunday School, Noah sings a song called "The Praying Song." I'm sure you've heard it before: In my life, Lord, be glorified, be glorified, In my life, Lord be glorfied, today.
When Noah is at home, we often sing this song about anything and everything. In our car, Lord, In my trucks, Lord, at the park, Lord, In Buzz Lightyear, etc. But the other day Noah wanted to sing, "In my treasure, be glorified."
In my treasure? This instantly brought tears to my eyes. How can my three year old be so profound? See, I tend to think of my treasures as mine. Like a dragon, I hoarde them away try to keep them from others, especially God. But here is Noah saying, "Let's ask God to be glorified in our treasure." That means I would have to let those treasures go. I would have to give them to God and let him use them for his purposes. But the bonus would be that I would see real treasure, the kind that God is glorified in. After all, he is the ultimate treasure.
In my treasure, be glorified, be glorified. In my treasure, be glorified, today.

More Fish Stories
Yesterday my niece Analia came over to play. She's really into Disney princesses right now and Noah has been learning to be accomodating to guests. When the kids asked if they could watch a movie Noah was very polite and said, "Let's watch Lili's favorite movie about cereal!" Analia was pretty confused but I knew right away that he was talking about The Little Mermaid (whose name is Ariel).

What kind of bait do you use for THAT?
According to Noah, when you're all done using the potty, you FISH the toilet.

I can't believe I forgot!!
Okay, I'm spreading more words about friends with home businesses. Our friend Lorraine (who is also a teacher at Geary's school-Go Lions!) has store on etsy called Two Waters Fiberworks. She sells gorgeous handspun and handdyed yarns, handdyed silk scarves, and more! I'm not a knitter, but looking at her stuff makes want to become one. Check out her store here.

Maybe she has a new lotion...
Last night at our after church dinner Noah stood up on his chair and said, "Mom! Mom! Sniff-a-me!" I said, "WHAT???" He said, "Sniff-a-me! Right there!" Of course the only thing I could imagine was that maybe he had a poopy diaper and wanted me check, but NO WAY was I going to sniff him in the middle of dinner. So I asked, "Do you need to go potty?" Noah looked mortified, "No Mom! My teacher! Sniff-a-me!" I looked around for his teacher...of course...his teacher...Stephanie.

Spreading the Word
I know Christmas has passed, but pretty soon it will be Valentine's Day or someone's birthday or your anniversary and you're going to need to buy a gift. I would like to suggest that you purchase something from one of my friends. Melissa and Steph have each started business ventures and I want to spread the word about them.
Mel Brewster has beautiful handmade scarves and hats. You can see pictures of her products here. She also does special orders.
Steph Hutchison has an ebay store with cute votive candles in several scents. Check it out here. Once business takes off, more scents will be available.

Who am I, really?
Lately Noah has been opposed to being called anything other than Noah. If we say, "Hey buddy," or "Come here, son," or, "Sweetheart" or anything like that he shouts, "I'M NOT A BUDDY! I'm just a Noah!"
Today I said, "I love you, my Noah" and he instantly responded, "I'm not a Noah!!!" I giggled while he realized what he just said. After a few seconds of silence, Noah gave a sheepish grin and said, "I really am a Noah...right, Mom?"
