Confessions of a Gorilla Girl

If you are my close friend you know that I am a very, very, VERY hairy person. You might know this even if you are not my close friend but you have at least had the decency and politeness not to mention my hairiness to my face. Thank you for that. Please keep not mentioning it.

Anyway, I'm talking about shave everyday or wake up to a carpet of leg hair, must bleach my fine facial hair, tweezers are my best friend type of hairy. It is something that is truly inconvenient, embarrassing, and the reason for hundreds of hair removal doo-dads that are currently littering our bathroom.

This morning I found my handy-dandy eyebrow trimmer. It's like a mini set of clippers to shorten the length of your eyebrows. So, since I had them out I used them. And I cut my eyebrow hair too short. It looks like I gave my face a buzz cut.

Normally, I wouldn't mind this because, like I said, I'm really hairy. My eyebrows will grow back in within just a couple of days. However, today is the day that we are going to get our Oregon drivers licenses--which are valid for the next EIGHT years!
I think it's around age 5 or 6 when you start to realize that you know things that your parents might not know. I remember knowing how to spell "brilliant" and feeling vastly superior to my mother because she mispelled it. (In reality, her mispelling was probably just a typo.) This attitude continues until around 15 years old when you are utterly convinced that you know everything and your parents know nothing. It's not until around 23 to 25 that you discover, "Wow, my parents actually are kind of smart." And then you start noticing that they really do know quite a lot and that you really do know nothing. It's a fast, complicated, thrilling, and vicious cycle, I think.

And it has started at our house.

Noah: Where are we going?
Jeana: A store called Big Lots.
Noah: Why is it called Big Lots?
Jeana: I don't know. Why do you think it's called Big Lots?
Noah: Hmm. I think it's called Big Lots because it is big and it has lots of stuff.
Jeana: Huh. I think you are exactly right.
Noah: And I know something else, too. Target is called Target because that's where you go to get tar.
Jeana: I'm not sure that's exactly right.
Noah: It is.

As of 7:20am

I am twenty-ten years old.

Please don't believe that I think 30 is old. It's just that for the last decade whenever I've had to say my age it started with twenty. I felt the same way at 19 and on my birthday I had to transition from saying ten-teen to twenty. By the end of today I'll be easily and proudly saying, "I'm thirty years old!"

I remember thinking last year that I wasn't quite ready to be 30. After all, 30 year olds have their lives figured out. They have careers and kids and houses and....wait a minute! I do have all those things! Plus I have family and friends who love me, the best husband in the world, and a good, good God who showers blessings on my head every day. What a great life!

Here's the thing...

Getting our internet set up was not as easy as I thought it would be. It turns out our house was already set up for fiber optic cable so a regular phone line and DSL would not be an option. So now after a few frustrating days of trying to figure things out we have wireless FIOS or something. And that meant we had to get a wireless USB Network Adaptor thingamajiggy. And the first one we got was lame. As in we were cruising on the net at a whopping 5 mbps.

So we had to return that one and get a different one which thankfully works. So, yeah. That's why there are no pictures yet. But soon! Keep checking back. And...sorry. One day I really will get organized and back to regular updates on life with the Linharts.

We're In!

I'm at the library right now because we won't have internet access until Tuesday. But after that I will be sure to post pictures of the house and, of course, you are invited to come over anytime.

The move in went really well and we are almost to the point where the only things left to put away are just the decorative things.

I painted the kid's room and I love the way it turned out. I can't wait to post pictures. More in a few days!
