Techy Toddler

Jeana: Noah, time to get your shoes on.
Noah: ...
Jeana: Noah, did you hear me? It's time to get your shoes on. We need to go.
Noah: Okay, I just have to check my email really quick.

Trip to Grandma and Grandpa Bob's House

We got back last night from a long weekend in Albany. We had a great time but it sure went by fast! Here are some pictures from our trip:

FRIDAY
Loaded into the car in our driveway. The kids are shouting "Grandma's HOUSE!!!"

We stopped for dinner and the kids shared a lemonade.

SATURDAY

We drove up to the farm where Lila had a new toy. Look at my boy with a power drill (like mother like son)!

Analia preferred using the manual screwdriver.

When the kids went to feed the cows, we realized that we had forgotten Noah's warm coat at home. So he borrowed this one from the farm. (Grin)

SUNDAY

No pictures from Sunday. Geary and I took a tour of some manufactured homes (just to see what they looked like--pretty nice, actually) and had lunch out. Other than that we just had a quiet day playing at home.

MONDAY
Grandpa Bob and Grandma took us to the Children's Museum in Salem--it was SUPER fun!

Noah sitting in a pretend bus. He can't wait to go to big-boy-school.

Experimenting with air pressure. Noah is looking at a ball floating on a jet stream of air.

The kids really loved the playground outside the museum.
Noah and Lili on a play truck. Grandpa Bob would stand behind them and shake the truck so that they would have a bumpy ride. I wish you could hear the giggles--from all three of them!

Noah loves steering wheels.

Analia's favorite thing was the big girl swing.

After the Children's Museum we all got to go on the carousel! Lili rode Magic and Noah rode Billiebom. On the next ride, Lili was on Stardust and Noah chose Nugget. Noah looks scared this picture, but he really was having a fun time.

It was a really big day, because after the carousel the grandparents took us all out for icecream! Here's Noah standing in front of CJ the Cow near the ice cream parlor.

TUESDAY
We had another lazy morning, packed up, played Battleship with the kids, had a teaparty, and then drove home. In all the try-to-have-as-much-fun-as-we-can-in-our-last-few-hours-here time, I forgot to take any pictures.

Thank you, thank you, thank you to Grandma and Grandpa Bob for your hospitality, love, and entertainment. We had a wonderful time visiting you and we can't wait to do it again. We love you so much!

The Living Room

We love our living room. This is the only room I'm not sure what color I would paint. Tan? Yellowish? Orangey red? I keep changing my mind. But it's all moot because, if you haven't realized by now, we're not allowed to paint. (Much to my dissatisfaction)

Daddy's chair. Many a story is read in this chair. Also, we stash Noah's toys in the ottoman for quick clean up.

The green cabinet houses our TV and movie collection. I really like being able to close the doors on all that stuff and let our living room be a quiet relaxing place. We really love having a fireplace. Recently we found java-logs which are fire logs made from spent coffee grounds. They burn longer and cleaner than regular fire logs and they smell pretty good, too. Not strong, like coffee, but just kind of sweet.

The couch. We chose this couch because of it's removable, washable slipcover. You can't really tell in the photos, but both the couch and the chair are covered with little "toddler" stains.

Closeups of the items on our sofa table: orchid, resin balls in a pottery bowl, freakishly huge pear scented candle.

Noah's Room

Noah recently moved from his crib/toddler bed to a twin size big boy bed. When he made the switch we let him choose how he wanted his room to be decorated. He chose a Safari Theme. If we were allowed to paint, his room would have khaki walls.

Noah' big boy bed. He has set up a whole little Bob the Builder town under his bed. The prints on his wall are pictures of jungle animals from a coloring book that I colored with paint markers.

Yes, it's a slide! Every kid's dream.

Noah's bookshelf and table. The mirror looking thing is acutally a magnet board where he puts pictures he's colored and postcards from friends and family. The monkey on the wall is a clock and his tail swings like a pendulum. The picture on the wall is an oil pastel that I made in college.

Noah's clothes hamper is a hungry lion who loves to eat dirty laundry. These toy bins from Ikea are great! Noah is already learning how to be organized and he can clean his own room easily by himself.

Hanging from the ceiling, over his bed, is this wooden parrot that my friend Becca sent him from the Czech Republic. You can make his wings flap by pulling the string hanging from his belly.

The chain of stuffed animals. I got this idea from a lady I worked with at Evangel. We used similar chains to display the hundreds of teddy bears we sold at Christmastime. It's easy for Noah to take the animals down and easy for me to clip them back up.

Happy Valentine's Day!

Dear Family and Friends,

We love you so much are extremely grateful for the ways you bless us, fill us up, encourage, protect, provide for, and play with us. Your love has been like water and sunlight to a plant and now the vines of our family are strong and growing because of each of you. May God bless you today and may you know his love in a deeper way.

Much love,

The Linharts

The Bathroom

We only have one bathroom and it can be accessed through our bedroom or the hallway. It was tough to get a good angle for pictures, bug hopefully you'll get an idea of what our bathroom looks like. If we were allowed to paint this room would have sage/moss green walls.

We've decorated with the leftover hydrangea stuff from our wedding. I also have my small collection of glass bottles in here.

On the right side of the mirror is some dangling wire art that we bought in Victoria to remember our first anniversary. On the right of the sink is some Method handsoap and lotion. I LOVE Method and have been purchasing their cleaning products as we run out of other stuff. Method works great, smells great, and is safe for the environment and toddlers.

Here's our laminated poster of Mona Lisa in the shower. Our "Exposure to Art" project. (I never get tired of that pun!)

The Bedroom

I'm finally posting pictures of our apartment!

Our beautiful bed with our super comfortable new mattress. A HUGE thank you to everyone who contributed to our New Mattress Fund. We have both been sleeping so well and feeling much more refreshed in the mornings. Thank you again and again and again and again.

If we were allowed to paint, the walls in this room would be a spicy brick red. The picture above our bed is one of our wedding pictures with each of our vows on the sides. We found this bed on e-bay before we got married and my parents purchased it for us as a wedding gift. Geary's parents stored it in their garage until we were married.

North wall

That great mirror was a gift from Eric and Anita a couple Christmases ago and the candle holder was a gift from Garyanna the first year we were married. It's kind of hard to tell, but there is a jar of rose petals on right side of the dresser. The petals are from the roses Geary gave to me when he proposed.

South wall

The framed picture is another one of our wedding pictures. Instead of having a guest book, we had our wedding guests sign the matte around the picture. I love looking at all the signatures and remembering that all those people are committed to our marriage. The smaller picture is an oil pastel of two sets of footprints facing each other. Geary made it and gave it to me the Christmas before we were engaged. We used that image as our wedding theme. Underneath the little shelf is just a black bookcase with baskets in it where we store our socks and stuff.

Foot of the bed

This is my gorgeous antique trunk that Geary (with the help of his parents and sister) bought me for our third anniversary. I love the embossed vine/scroll design on it. Noah loves to use this trunk to play "pirates."

I'll post pictures of another room on Monday. Oooh, the suspense!

College Retreat 2006

Last weekend our family joined the college group from our church at their Winter Retreat on Mt. Baker. We had a great time connecting with the students and listening to our close friend Megan share her thoughts on what it means to be real. Noah especially loved the cabin that we stayed in. He called it "our little house." The only bummer of the weekend was that it was way too windy to play in the snow. But we did get to throw a couple of snowballs and jump in some puddles.

Here's Noah in his bunk.

King Jesus

Conversation in the car:

Noah: I can ask King Jesus if he wants to give me a present.
Jeana: Oh really? Do you think King Jesus likes to give us gifts?
Noah: Yep. He can give me a present and I can open it up.
Jeana: What do you think will be in it?
Noah: Life. King Jesus gives the gift of life!
Jeana: You're so smart...what else do you know about King Jesus?
Noah: He loves me.
Jeana: Hey, Noah, what does King Jesus look like?
Noah: He looks good. Like a super hero! But he's a man. He's a man and a superhero.

Sounds like we have a mini theologian on our hands...
